Renewing your computer's IP address may resolve connection issues. Here are release/renew instructions for a variety of operating systems:
Windows 10 & 11
- Click the magnifying glass icon on the Task Bar, then type cmd in the search field.
- In the list of results, right-click on Command Prompt then click Run as administrator.
- Click Yes to allow changes when prompted.
- In the window that appears type ipconfig /release then press Enter.
- After a brief delay the IP address will be released.
- Type in ipconfig /renew then press Enter.
If you have a working network connection this will renew your IP resolving any connection issues.
MacOS, thru Monterey (12.0)
- Click on the Apple logo (top left corner), click System Preferences. In the window that appears click Network.
- In the list at the left, select the network service that needs a renewed IP address, then click the Advanced button in the lower right corner.
- From the TCP/IP tab click the button Renew DHCP Lease. Click the OK button.
MacOS, Ventura (13.0) & Sonoma (14.0)
- Click on the Apple logo (top left corner), click System Settings. In the window that appears click Network.
- From the list, select the network service that needs a renewed IP address, then click the Details button beside the network name.
- Choose TCP/IP at left, then click the button Renew DHCP Lease. Click the OK button.
