Release and Renew IP Address

Releasing and renewing your computer's IP address may resolve connection issues. 

 

Windows

  1. Click the Windows icon on the Task Bar and search for "cmd".

  2. In the list of results, right-click on Command Prompt, then click Run as administrator.

  3. When prompted, click Yes to allow changes.

  4. In the window that appears, type ipconfig /release, then press Enter. After a brief delay, the IP address will be released.

  5. Now type ipconfig /release, then press Enter. This will renew the IP address.

 

MacOS

  1. Open System Settings. 

  2. Select Network.

  3. In the list at the left, select the network that needs a renewed IP address, then click the Advanced button in the lower right corner (or the Details button beside the network name).

  4. From the TCP/IP tab, click the button Renew DHCP Lease. Click OK.
