Body
This article explains how to search for answers using the Client Portal. It provides the basic information, tips, and shows examples of a variety of different types of searches.
The portal is useful for finding “how to” information about a specific tech topic, such as how to add a mailbox in Outlook or change your MFA settings if you have a new phone. Service pages provide general information about the many ITS services, such as printing, VPN, and e-signatures. They are also a great way to submit requests for help (tickets), as the support forms prompt you to supply your topic-specific information; this means your issue can be resolved more quickly because you have already provided needed details, without us having to ask.
To give these searches a try, see the how-to steps and tips listed below.
How to Search
-
Go to Middlebury’s Client Portal at go/helpme/
-
Click the “Search the client portal” field at top right (shown below under Search Tips), then type a word or phrase.
-
Notice that a few results will appear as you type, under the search bar. These results have the words (or exact phrase, if specified by quotation marks) in the title.
-
Click the Globe drop-down to the left of the search bar to narrow results to either just articles (light bulb "Knowledge Base") or just services (compass "Service Catalog")
-
Press Enter/Return to see a full list of results, i.e. that include instances of the words (or exact phrase) in the document title and/OR contents.
Search Tips
Here are a few pointers that let you be more precise about what you're seeking.

-
If you hover over the search field, search tips will be displayed.
-
To search for items with an exact match, place double quotes around your text.
-
To search for items with a specific tag, enter the # symbol followed by the name of the tag.
