Body

Microsoft Outlook's Mailbox Cleanup provides options for analyzing where cleanup, organization, and deletion may be most effective.  To access Mailbox Cleanup:

  1. With Outlook (Classic) running, click File in the menu bar.
  2. Click the Tools button.
  3. Choose Mailbox Cleanup... from the drop-down list.

In View Mailbox Size as shown in the image below, you can see how much space in kilobytes each folder is taking up. Move the decimal three spaces to the left. As an example, 182946 kilobytes would 182.946 megabytes. The other tools in Mailbox Cleanup are Find, AutoArchive, Empty, and Delete.

Find is like a more limited version of Search Folders used for searching by age or message size.

AutoArchive in Mailbox Cleanup is a way for you to activate your AutoArchive setting based on your Outlook folder settings.

Empty clears your deleted items and gives the ability to view the folder size.
