Setting up Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)
1. After being prompted for additional information, you will be redirected to the following page to configure MFA. We strongly recommend that you configure the authenticator app as it is more resilient to spoofing and secure. Make sure you are performing these steps from a computer and not a phone as you will need to take a camera snapshot of a QR code later. If you do not have a smartphone, click the text in the lower left corner reading “I want to set up a different method” to use a phone number for either a call or text.
2. Navigate to your appropriate application store for your phone (Google Play or) and download the Microsoft Authenticator application. Make sure the publisher is Microsoft and matches the icon above. Make sure to follow the steps in the prompt below before continuing.
3. You should now see a QR code to scan. If you have followed the steps till now, your phone should already have the camera application open ready to scan this code. Scan the code on your computer screen that was generated. DO NOT SCAN THE QR CODE IN THIS DOCUMENT.
4. After you add the token to your phone, the screen will display a code to enter onto your phone (See below). Enter the code into your phone to validate the newly created MFA. After validation success, simply click next to proceed and finally “Done” to complete setup.
In the future, if prompted for MFA, your will receive a notification on your device, open the notification from the Microsoft Authenticator and enter the code provided on the screen.
