Unless explicitly stated on the documentation for a method, the accepted Web API call content types are:

application/json

Calls using any other content type (ex: text/plain) are not supported.

Name	String		The name of the application.
Description	String	This field is nullable.	The description of the application.
Type	String		The type of the application. Types include Standard, Ticketing, Assets/CI, Client Portal, or External.
AppClass	String		The class of the application.
ExternalUrl	String	This field is nullable.	The external URL of the application.
Purpose	String	This field is nullable.	The purpose of the application.
Active	Boolean		The active status of the application.
PartialUrl	String	This field is nullable.	The partial URL of the Client Portal application.

Remarks

This includes standard system-defined applications, platformed ticketing, asset/CI and client portal applications, and organizationally-defined external applications.
