Middlebury's Google Workspace - Learning and Resources

This article briefly outlines common apps in Middlebury's Google Workspace and provides links to learning resources.

All Middlebury faculty, staff, and students have a Middlebury Google account, using their email address (username@middlebury.edu) and password as their login credentials.

Apps Offered

Our Google Workspace (aka G Suite & Google Apps) offers the following services for use at Middlebury:

  • Google Docs (similar to Word or Pages)
  • Google Sheets (similar to Excel or Numbers)
  • Google Slides (similar to PowerPoint or Keynote)
  • Google Drive (similar to OneDrive or iCloud)
  • Google Groups (similar to Teams)*
    • NOTE: Groups are not created within Google Workspace, but rather are synced from Middlebury's Active Directory. You may request creation of a distribution list or assistance in selecting an appropriate existing list to use it in the Google environment.
  • Google Calendar 
  • Google Sites

Important note:  Gmail is NOT available as part of Middlebury's workspace.

The Google Assignments external tool integrates Middlebury’s Google Workspace for Education with Canvas, Middlebury’s learning management system. Instructors in a Canvas site can add and manage Google Assignments from within the Canvas site. Teachers, students, and other site participants can collaborate using Docs, Sheets, and Slides in the Google Workspace suite.
Google Drive is a cloud storage platform which allows for document storage and collaborative content authoring.
