How do I learn about this service?
Google provides documentation for instructors who would like to add Google activities to their Canvas site:
How do I access Google Assignments integration in Canvas?
- Choose the Google Drive (LTI 1.3) from the Rich Content Editor (RCE) to embed a document from your Google Drive on the Canvas page (note: this will change share permissions on the doc so that anyone with the link can view)
- Add a Google file to a Module by selecting the + External Tool option and choosing Google Drive (LTI 1.3) – (note: this will change share permissions on the doc so that anyone with the link can view)
- Create an Assignment using a Submission Type of External Tool and then select Google Assignments (LTI 1.3) to generate a new assignment using Docs and Drive. This will provide each student with a unique copy of the assignment.
- A file submission type of Google Drive (LTI 1.3) is available to students if you choose an assignment Submission Type of Website URL.
- If you have Collaborations viewable in your course navigation menu, you can start a new collaboration using the Google Assignments (LTI 1.3). This allows you to create a Google Drive file and invite specific students in the course to collaborate on it.
How do I get help?
When looking for help, please be aware that some services may refer to an external tool as an LTI (Learning Tool Interoperability) or an integration. Instructure may also refer to an external tool as an external app. See
