Banner 9 brings a new look, better navigation, and mobile support, but the core services (registration, grades, rosters, financial aid) remain the same.

General Questions

Q: What is Banner 9?

  • Banner 9 is the updated version of our student and faculty system.

  • It replaces BannerWeb (Banner 8) with a modern, mobile-friendly design.

  • You’ll log in the same way, but the pages will look and feel different.

Q: Why are we moving to Banner 9?

  • Banner 9 is more secure, works better on phones/tablets, and is supported long-term by Ellucian (the vendor).

  • Banner 8 is being phased out.

Q: Will my data be affected?

  • No. Your records, courses, grades, and personal information remain the same. Only the interface is changing.

For Students

Q: How do I log in?

  • Use the same login link and credentials you use today (go/banner) or go directly at go/studentssb9/

  • Banner 9 uses Single Sign-On (SSO) and you’ll be redirected there to login first.

Q: What’s new for me in Banner 9?

  • Mobile-friendly pages – works on phones and tablets.

  • Updated Self-Service modules – financial aid, student records, and personal information pages are redesigned.

Q: Will all my old BannerWeb pages be gone?

  • Not immediately. Some pages are replaced right away, while others remain until their Banner 9 version is ready. You may see a mix during the transition.

Q: Where do I find my grades, schedule, or holds?

  • Still under Student Self-Service. The menus are reorganized, but the same information is available.

For Faculty

Q: What’s different about advising?

  • Banner 9 includes new advising tools (when enabled by the institution):

    • Better student profile pages.

    • Easier navigation to transcripts, test scores, and degree progress.

  • Some features may be rolled out gradually.

Q: Do I need training?

  • The basics are very intuitive. We will continue to build out helpful KB articles here as needed.

  • The Registrar can provide extra help if needed.

Q: Who do I contact if something looks wrong?

Q: Can I still use BannerWeb after Banner 9 goes live?

  • For a limited time, yes. But within a week, most users will move fully to Banner 9.
