Banner Login Fix - Chrome / Edge updates (late 2025)

If you use Chrome or Edge, you may be seeing errors using Banner after you are logged in as of November 2025. This is due to a change that Chrome and Edge made recently in their browsers. The error may contain the message "Authentication Failed. Problem in external authentication service."

A screenshot of a computer  AI-generated content may be incorrect.

 

To fix this issue:

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Copy chrome://flags/#local-network-access-check into the browser address bar and hit Enter/Return. 

  3. In the Local Network Access Checks dropdown, select Disabled.

  4. Relaunch the browser using the Relaunch button.

To fix it in Edge:

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Copy edge://flags/#local-network-access-check into the browser address bar and hit Enter/Return.
  3. In the Local Network Access Checks dropdown, select Disabled.
  4. Use the Restart button that appears to the lower right to relaunch the browser.
