Get started with resources

Digital resources connect your students to websites, files, and tools.

Add a resource

You can add multiple types of resources to your course listing. Follow these general steps to add any resource:

  1. Navigate to the Course Hub login page.

  2. Log in with your Middlebury username and password.

  3. Locate the My Terms section.

  4. Click your academic term.

  5. Click the title of the course you want to manage.

  6. Click the + Resource button under your course listing.

  7. Click the specific type of resource you want to add from the menu.

  8. Complete the required configuration fields.

  9. Click the Save button.

Edit a resource

You can change the settings or display names of your resources at any time.

  1. Navigate to the Course Hub login page.

  2. Log in with your Middlebury username and password.

  3. Locate the My Terms section.

  4. Click your academic term.

  5. Click your course title.

  6. Click the Resource tab.

  7. Click the pencil icon next to the resource you want to change.

  8. Click Edit from the drop-down menu.

  9. Update your resource settings.

  10. Click the Save button.

Manage Canvas resources

Canvas is the primary learning management system used at Middlebury to share course materials and manage grades.

Add a Canvas site

Follow these steps to create a new Canvas site for your course listing:

  1. Log into the Course Hub.

  2. Click the + Resource link.

  3. Select Canvas Resource from the menu.

  4. Review your settings. Leave the Connect to an existing Canvas course by ID field blank.

  5. Click the Save button once.

Re-sync your class roster to Canvas

Use these steps if the student roster in Course Hub does not match the student roster in Canvas.

  1. Log into the Course Hub.

  2. Click the course link on your current semester dashboard.

  3. Click the Resources tab.

  4. Click the pencil icon next to your Canvas link.

  5. Click Edit from the drop-down menu.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page immediately without changing any data.

  7. Click the Save button to force a roster synchronization.

Share external links and sites

You can connect your institutional WordPress sites or external websites directly to your course page.

Add a web link

Link resources direct people to external websites outside of Middlebury services.

  1. Log into the Course Hub.

  2. Click the + Resource button.

  3. Select Link Resource.

  4. Enter a clear title in the Resource/Link Title field.

  5. Paste the complete website address into the URL field.

  6. Click the Save button.

Add a WordPress resource

This option automatically grants access to all enrolled students based on your roster.

  1. Log into the Course Hub.

  2. Click the + Resource button.

  3. Select WordPress Resource.

  4. Choose one of the following:

    1. Create a new site or

    2. Connect to an existing site.

      1. Enter the site path name in the Path of the WordPress site field.

  5. Choose a student access level from the What Role should students have menu.

  6. Click the Save button.

Manage video with Panopto

Panopto is the institution-approved tool for video streaming and recording.

Add a Panopto video folder

  1. Log into the Course Hub.

  2. Click the + Resource button.

  3. Select Panopto Resource.

  4. Click the Save button.

Allow students to upload Panopto videos

By default, account holders can only view videos. Follow these steps to let students upload content:

  1. Navigate to the Panopto website or click your Panopto course link.

  2. Click the Share icon to the right of your folder name.

  3. Click the Share tab.

  4. Search for your specific course group name in the text field.

  5. Select your course group.

  6. Change the permission level to Creator using the drop-down menu.

Connect an existing Panopto folder

You can link an existing folder from a previous semester to your new course section.

  1. Open your existing Panopto folder in your web browser.

  2. Copy the long identification string of numbers and letters after the folderID= section in your browser address bar.

  3. Return to Course Hub.

  4. Navigate to your new course section listing.

  5. Click the + Resource button, then select Panopto Resource.

  6. Paste the copied identification string into the Connect to an existing Panopto folder by ID field.

  7. Click the Save button.

Share resources across multiple sections

You can connect one central Canvas or WordPress site to multiple course listings.

Share a Canvas site

  1. Create your main Canvas resource using the steps in the Canvas section above.

  2. View your browser address bar while looking at your main Canvas site.

  3. Copy the identification number located at the very end of the URL text.

  4. Navigate to your second course section listing in Course Hub.

  5. Click + Resource and select Canvas Resource.

  6. Paste the identification number into the Connect to an Existing Canvas Course by ID field.

  7. Click the Save button.

Share a WordPress site

  1. Navigate to your second course section listing in Course Hub.

  2. Click + Resource and select WordPress Resource.

  3. Locate the field labeled Connect to an Existing Canvas Course by ID at the bottom of the page.

  4. Paste the WordPress reference identification number from your main section into this field.

  5. Click the Save button.

Automated network folders

Middlebury automatically integrates traditional network file storage with Course Hub.

Display content from a MiddFiles class folder

Middlebury automates this resource creation. When an instructor places files in the HANDOUTS, SHARE, or PUBLIC_HTML directories of their network class folder, a Middfiles Class Folder link automatically appears on Course Hub. Account holders can use this link to view files without manually connecting to a network drive.
