Click on the "Request Name Change" button to request that your name be displayed in the Canvas LMS in accordance with how you prefer to be addressed by your instructors and classmates. An example is a student who solely or primarily goes by a nickname or a middle name that differs from their legal name.
Changing your display name in Canvas does not change your official name in any other campus-wide systems. See this page on the Champlain College website for more information about changing your Legal Name, your Chosen name, or updating any other personal information.
All Canvas display name requests will be reviewed to ensure that they do not conflict with Champlain College’s Standard of Conduct or Harassment and Discrimination Policy.
Traditional Undergraduate Students

Chosen Name Information
Champlain College recognizes that transgender, non-binary, and/or gender nonconforming students might not use the name that they were assigned at birth, as it does not reflect their identity. Therefore, the College has staff in place to assist students who wish to update their email addresses, academic class listings, and ID cards with their chosen name. See this page on the Champlain College website for more information about the Chosen name process.
