Zoom unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, and group messaging into one easy-to-use platform. It allows you to schedule and record online meetings or invite remote guest speakers to your class or event. Follow this article to learn about the basic features of the Zoom client on Windows and Mac.

All Saint Michael's College faculty, staff, and students have access to Zoom.

We recommend you check, update the Zoom Desktop Client regularly. Please see the instructions below under Security to make sure you're running the latest Zoom version.  

To Login Into Your Account:

If you don't have a Zoom account click here request this service.

  1. Go to Zoom meeting Client to download and install the Zoom application. 
  2. log in using SSO (Single Sign-On with your SMCVT account).

Best Practices While In a Class/Meeting

  • Sign in to the Zoom desktop client and stay signed in.
  • Check your Internet speed. If you're on free Wi-Fi, you may need to keep your camera off to improve quality.
  • Turn your camera on and have your camera at eye level.
  • Stay muted unless you're talking to reduce background noise.
  • Make sure you sit in a well-lit and quiet place.
  • Be mindful of what's going on behind you. Think about having a solid wall behind you or turning on the virtual background.
