Your Mikenet username and email address are generated by combining the first letter of your first name and your last name. If this results in a common result (for example, "jsmith") a number will be added to the end. Usernames never get recycled, so if you are "jsmith14" that means there were 13 other "jsmiths" before you, and the next "jsmith" will be "jsmith15".
There is also a 15 character limit on usernames, so if your last name is particularly long it may get truncated. In the case of hyphenated last names the hyphen will be dropped, but both names will be preserved (so Ben Green-Ellis would be "bgreenellis").
