What you can take with you
Your MiddCreate account holds web content you created. You can keep this content when you leave Middlebury.
Your web content can include:
- WordPress sites you built
- Omeka sites you built
- Databases you created (a database is where a site like WordPress stores its posts, pages, and settings)
- Files you uploaded with the File Manager tool
Choose how to keep your content
You have two choices. You can move your content to a new web host, or you can download a backup copy and keep it offline.
A web host is a company that runs the computers that keep your site online. Keeping your site online after you leave costs money.
- Domain: Your web address, such as yourname.com. You usually pay a yearly fee for it.
- Web hosting: The service that keeps your site online. You usually pay a monthly or yearly fee for it.
Warning: Do not start these steps until you are ready to move your site. Moving a domain can take your site offline for a short time.
Note: If your site address ends in middcreate.net, Middlebury owns that address. You can move your content, but you cannot take the address with you. You will need a new domain at your new web host.
Move your site to Reclaim Hosting
Reclaim Hosting is the company that runs MiddCreate. Moving your site to Reclaim is the simplest choice, because Reclaim support staff move your site for you.
Costs
- Hosting: $36 per year for the Student/Personal plan
- Domain registration: $19 per year

Steps to move your site
- Choose a plan from the Reclaim Hosting shared hosting plans page, or go straight to the Student/Personal plan sign-up page linked above.
- Complete the sign-up form.
- Pay the invoice.
- Send an email to Reclaim Hosting support. Use the message below.

Move your site to a different web host
You can move your site to any web host you choose. You do the work yourself, using your new host's instructions.
- Make a full backup of your account. Follow the steps in the Reclaim Hosting guide: Generating a backup.
- Follow your new web host's steps to move your site.
