What is Gradescope?

Gradescope is an online assessment platform designed to streamline grading work flows. It allows instructors/teaching assistants to efficiently grade digital or hand-written assignments, quizzes, and exams. It supports customizable grading rubrics and can improve grading consistency and transparency. For a more complete explanation, you can see an overview video here.

Who is eligible for Gradescope?

Gradescope is available to all Middlebury instructors and students. 

How do I get access to Gradescope?

Gradescope is available in Canvas as a navigational item and as an assessment option under external tools. More details are available on the Gradescope Canvas page.

While you can access Gradescope directly, it's suggested that using it within Canvas is the most efficient path for instructors and students. 

If you have used Gradescope prior to Spring 2024, you may need to merge your Gradescope accounts to access previous content from within Canvas. 

How do I learn about Gradescope?

Gradescope has an extensive library of tutorials and support documentation to help get you started. 

Gradescope also offers weekly live introductory workshops.
