What’s New This Summer?

Wireless Certificate Update

The security certificate used on our campus Wi-Fi networks was updated again this past March. As a result of this change, you will likely be asked to trust a new certificate for “cpauth.middlebury.edu” when you connect to Wi-Fi this summer.  Please trust this certificate when prompted.  If you run into issues you may need to disconnect or forget the network and then reconnect.

ITS Virtual Assistant

ITS Virtual Assistant iconYou'll see this new icon in the lower right corner of all ITS websites.  Click the button to open a chat window.  You may be asked to provide a nickname and your email address.  Buttons for common topics (like passwords, MFA, and WiFi) will appear but you can use the message area to type a brief description of how we can help.  We've been working to fine-tune the results so you reach helpful information more quickly.  We encourage you to give it a try.

Connecting to Wireless (http://go/wireless/)

You can connect to our secure wireless network, MiddleburyCollege, using your Middlebury account (username@middlebury.edu) and password.  Connection to the campus network allows access to our e-mail system, cloud storage, and to the Internet.

Public Computing Facilities and Printing

Both Middlebury and Monterey use print queues named MiddBW (prints black & white, double-sided by default) and MiddColor (prints color, single-sided by default to align with the most common use of color for signs and graphs).  Install these queues for the most flexible printing options.  You can change default settings on screen or at the printer by adjusting the single or double-sided options.  Tip:  When requesting a printout, be sure to select MiddBW unless your document truly requires color ink as you will be charged more per page for jobs sent to MiddColor.

Middlebury Campus

Visit http://go.middlebury.edu/print for information about printing on the Middlebury campus and how to manage your printing account.  Check out http://go.middlebury.edu/howtoprint for specifics about how to send a print job from your own computer using our mobility print service.

Monterey Campus

For information and resources about printing at Monterey, see http://go.middlebury.edu/printingatMIIS.

Course Content & Resources Via the Course Hub (http://go/hub/)

The Course Hub is Middlebury's gateway to course content for students and faculty.  The Semester Dashboard shows you the resources for all your registered courses – at a glance you can see Canvas sites, course information, and other connected resources.

For help with our learning management system, Canvas, see the Canvas Quick Overview for Students (http://go.middlebury.edu/CanvasStudentQuickguide).

File Storage (http://go/cloudoverview/)

All faculty, staff, and students can store files in Middlebury’s OneDrive and/or Google Drive cloud accounts using their Middlebury e-mail address and password.  The contents of your cloud storage accounts are deleted after you leave Middlebury.  Visit http://go/cloudoverview/ to learn about these storage options.  We strongly recommend use of Middlebury’s cloud storage because:

  • They provide robust, password-protected storage for your important documents.

  • Automatic synchronization of specified folders to and from the cloud protects your work.  Files are backed up effortlessly so they can be retrieved in case of a virus or hardware failure.  File revision history allows you to revert to a previous version, if needed.

  • Cloud storage is accessible from any networked computer, anywhere.

E-mail (http://go/mail/)

All students, faculty, and staff have a cloud-hosted Exchange e-mail account that is protected by multi-factor authentication (MFA) .  E-mail is the standard messaging method at Middlebury College so it is your responsibility to monitor your account for communications.  Visit our Account Lifecycle Policy page for details about access after you leave campus.  Summer faculty are considered "adjunct faculty."

  • Your e-mail address is in the format username@middlebury.edu

  • If you need to change or reset your password, refer to http://go/passwordhelp/.

  • To access your e-mail using a web browser, visit http://go/mail/.  Provide your full Middlebury e-mail address and password to log in.

  • All accounts are protected by multi-factor authentication (MFA).  If you use the Microsoft Authenticator App for security elsewhere you will still need to add your Middlebury account.

  • To change your Middlebury MFA settings, visit http://go.middlebury.edu/mfasetup.
