What is this service?
Middlebury accounts have access to two different Lucid tools: Lucidchart and Lucidspark. Lucidchart is a visual workspace that offers a wide variety of templates for solo or collaborative diagramming and data visualization. Lucidspark is a flexible whiteboard space where teams can synchronously brainstorm, annotate, and share ideas with text, graphics and freehand drawing. As an external tool in Canvas instructors can generate and/or embed both Lucidchart and Lucidspark assignments.
Who is eligible for this service?
All active Middlebury student, faculty and staff accounts with Canvas access can access Lucidchart and Lucidspark.
How do I learn about this service?
The Lucid website provides comprehensive documentation for Lucidchart and Lucidspark:
How do I access Lucidchart and Lucidspark?
Middlebury instructors, students, and staff must first register their Lucid account via Canvas. To register a Lucid account from Canvas see:
Access Notes:
- After registering, Lucidchart and Lucidspark may also be used as a web application outside of Canvas. When accessing Lucid outside of Canvas, it is recommended that you choose “Google” as your login method. The single sign on “SSO” and “Microsoft” options are not enabled with Lucid for Middlebury accounts.
- Use Chrome or Firefox as your browser while setting up your Lucid account. Some people report problems when using Safari. If you encounter issues when setting up your account, make sure you have third-party cookies enabled. See:
System requirements for optimized Lucid performance.
- If you have an existing Lucid account and now want to claim free access to Lucid via Canvas see:
Claiming Free Access to Lucid through Canvas: For Existing Lucid Users.
