Approved external tools can be integrated into Canvas. These tools can provide additional capabilities or content and will vary greatly in terms of how they work within Canvas.

DesignPLUS

DesignPLUS helps you quickly create engaging, organized content in Canvas without requiring any HTML or CSS experience.

Google Assignment

The Google Assignments external tool integrates Middlebury’s Google Workspace for Education with Canvas, Middlebury’s learning management system. Instructors in a Canvas site can add and manage Google Assignments from within the Canvas site. Teachers, students, and other site participants can collaborate using Docs, Sheets, and Slides in the Google Workspace suite.

GoReact

GoReact is an interactive cloud-based platform for feedback, grading, and critiquing of student video assignments. GoReact can be used for improving any skill that can be captured on video or audio, and has been used for language learning, language interpretation, ASL, oral presentations, speech and debate, teacher development, clinical training, and performing arts learning.

Gradescope

Gradescope is an online assessment platform designed to streamline grading work flows. It allows instructors/teaching assistants to efficiently grade digital or hand-written assignments, quizzes, and exams. It supports customizable grading rubrics and can improve grading consistency and transparency.

Hypothesis

The Hypothesis integration with Canvas brings discussion directly to course content by enabling students and teachers to add comments and start conversations in the margins of texts.

Lib Guides Integration in Canvas

The LibGuides integration with Canvas allows faculty to embed selected LibGuides into pages in their Canvas site. This allows students to access research guide information without having to leave their Canvas course shell. Librarians at the College and the Institute can work with faculty to design custom research guides for their courses.

Lucid

Lucidchart and Lucidspark are external tools available from and within Canvas, Middlebury's learning management system.

Panopto Integration in Canvas

The Panopto video integration with Canvas allows instructors and students to choose, upload, or record videos from wherever the rich content editor is available in order to share with members of a Canvas site. The integration is available for all Canvas content types except new quizzes.

ThingLink

The platform enables instructors and students to create clickable hotspots to various media types including images, videos, 3D models, and augmented reality content. Elements can link to custom content, websites, or multimedia resources, allowing the creation of branching scenarios and interactive learning tasks.

UDOIT

UDOIT – or the Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool – (pronounced, “You Do It”) is an automated accessibility auditing tool for Canvas courses.

Zoom Integration in Canvas

The Zoom external tool integrates Middlebury's enterprise video conferencing platform with Canvas and allows faculty to schedule, host, and record Zoom meetings within Canvas for recurring class meetings and office hours.
