What is this service?
Perusall is a social annotation tool that allows students to collaboratively markup uploaded texts, webpages, textbooks, as well as images and video with comments, hashtags, and anonymous notes. The Perusall integration with Canvas allows instructors to create graded annotation assignments.
Who is eligible for this service?
All active Middlebury student, faculty, and staff with Canvas accounts can access Perusall.
How do I learn about this service?
Perusall Knowledge Base articles and video guides for instructors include tutorials for use with standalone accounts and with the Canvas integration.
How do I access Perusall?
Perusall can be used as a standalone tool by instructors to organize course assignments through their main website. However, Middlebury instructors are recommended to use the Perusall integration in Canvas in order to simplify student access to annotation tasks and streamline available grading features. The integration is available in Canvas course-level navigation menu. See the "How do I use the Course Navigation Menu as an instructor?" Canvas guide to manage navigation items.
