Course Hub: How to Add a Syllabus

Course Hub is Middlebury's central platform that connects your classes to digital resources like course websites and files. A syllabus is a document that outlines the schedule, rules, and expectations for a class. You can find more details about these documents on the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research syllabus guide.

Log in and select your class

Open your web browser.

  1. Navigate to the Course Hub website.

  2. Enter your Middlebury username.

  3. Enter your password.

  4. Click the Log in button.

  5. Click on the academic term you want to view.

  6. Click on the title of the specific course.

Choose your syllabus type

Navigate to the class details section on your screen.

  1. Click the Syllabi tab above the course details.

  2. Click the + Syllabus button.

  3. Select one of the three available options to add your document.

Option 1: Upload a syllabus file

Use this option if you have a document saved on your computer.

  1. Type a name for your document in the Title field.

  2. Click the Choose file button.

  3. Select the file from your computer.

Option 2: Link to a syllabus website

Use this option if your document is hosted on a webpage or a cloud storage service.

  1. Type a name for your document in the Title field.

  2. Type or paste the web address into the URL field.

Option 3: Paste syllabus text

Use this option to type or paste your information directly into the Course Hub.

  1. Type a name for your document in the Title field.

  2. Type or paste your content into the Body field.

  3. Select your preferred layout style from the text format menu.

Adjust visibility and save

You must control who can see your document before you finish.

  1. Look for the privacy and visibility options on the page.

  2. Choose one of the three access levels for your document.

    • Class: This limits access to instructors and enrolled students. Choosing this option makes it harder for other students to review the class during registration.

    • Any Middlebury Person: This limits access to logged-in members of our institution. This option helps students choose classes and assists support groups like the Disability Resource Center.

    • Public: This allows anyone in the world to view your document.

  3. Click the Save button at the bottom of the form.
