Canvas: Troubleshooting the Canvas Student App

Tags canvas Mobile

The Canvas Student App allows students to view and interact with content on their mobile devices. Some issues can arise when content from an integration (such as Panopto, Google, Office 365, etc.) is added to a Canvas site. If this happens, use the following steps to troubleshoot the Canvas Student App:

  1. Check the Canvas Student app version; it must be updated to the latest version.
  2. Clear the cache in the Canvas Student App.
    1. Clear the Mobile App Cache on an iOS device.
      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Select Apps.
      3. Select the Canvas App.
      4. Toggle on the option that states, "Reset cache on next launch." From there, you will force close the Canvas Student App.
      5. Log back in to the Canvas Student App again.
    2. Clear the Mobile App Cache on an Android device.
      1. Go to your phone's Settings.
      2. Select Apps.
      3. Locate the Canvas Student App and select it.
      4. Press Storage and select the delete or clean button to clear data and clear the cache.
      5. Log back in to the Canvas app again.
  3. If clearing the cache does not resolve the issue, delete the Canvas Student App then reinstall it.
