LinkedIn Learning - Getting Started

This article explains how to get started using LinkedIn Learning, Middlebury's video-based on-demand instruction resource that is available to all active academic year faculty, staff, and students, both here and at Monterey.

Getting Started

  1. Type http://go/LIL/ (or http://go.middlebury.edu/LIL from off campus) in your browser’s address field, then press Enter or Return.
  2. From the LinkedIn Learning prompt, provide your full Middlebury email address, then click Continue.
  3. Provide your Middlebury account password, if prompted.
  4. You’ll be asked to provide your career goals so courses can be recommended — or you can click "I'm not sure".  (You can change your goals at any time.)
  5. If you provided career goals you may be asked to Tell us the job you want, which you can supply or click "Skip for now".
  6. You’ll be offered the choice of connecting an existing LinkedIn account you may have to your LinkedIn Learning details; this is strictly optional.
  7. To assist with your course recommendations we suggest you select one or more skills you'd like to develop, then click Continue.
  8. You can opt whether or not to Set a weekly learning goal.
  9. When your account setup is complete, your customized My Career Journey page is presented, showing recommended content based on your earlier choices.
  10. Now you are ready to begin your learning adventure!
    •  Check out the short course called “How to use LinkedIn Learning” (under 45 min total) to learn basic navigation and details about LinkedIn Learning offerings.  This is well worth a look!
    • If you provided details about career goals and/or skills of interest, you may want to begin exploring LinkedIn Learning's recommendations.
    • Use the “search for learning content” search field at the top of the window to find videos or courses of interest, or click Content in the menu at left to browse course offerings, role guides, learning paths, and more.
