How to Save Your OneDrive Files to a Zip File

You can download some—or all—of your Middlebury OneDrive files to a zip file for archiving or transferring to a different device. It is highly recommended that you view the tips below before continuing to download files.

Tips

  • Consider parsing through your files before downloading them — consider which files you DO need, and which you do not.

  • Large zip downloads can take a long time. Devote a good chunk of time to data transfer if you have over 20GB of data.

  • Downloading to zip will fail if you attempt to download over 20GB of data to one zip file. It is recommended that you systematically work through the files and divvy up downloads into parts of 20GB or less.

  • You can view the size of files and folders by selecting the item, then expanding the "Details" pane using the toggle at the far right at the top of the page.

Process

  1. Log in to OneDrive on the web at go/onedrive/.

  2. On the left side panel, select My files.

  3. Select the files and/or folders you wish to download with the checkmark toggle to the left of the item. See the example below: the blue checkmark is selected, while the grey checkmark (shows on hover) is not.

    • If you want all contents, click the "Toggle selection for all items" on the bar next to Name—the option will not show until hovered over. Note that this is not recommended if you have a large amount of files; see Tips above for more details.

    • NOTE: The Download button will not appear until you have checked at least one item.

  2. The download will begin. The length of time to download depends on how much storage you have used and your Internet speed.

  3. Once completed, your files will be zipped and saved to your computer's Downloads folder, unless otherwise specified.
