This article contains directions for printing a poster from a PDF file using the public Windows computers in McCardell Bicentennial Hall.

NOTE: You need to use a public college computer; you cannot print from your laptop. Either email the document to yourself or put it in cloud storage (e.g. Google Drive or OneDrive) so you can access it on the public computer. 

 

  1. Download your PDF file onto Middlebury College public computers. It will go to the Downloads folder on the computer unless you otherwise specify.  

  2. Open your PDF file with Adobe Acrobat Reader:

    • Right click on your file from where you saved it, then select Open with.

    • Choose Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    • NOTE: You may have to sign in using your Middlebury account, and you may need your cell phone for authentication. 

  3. Click File > Print.  This will open the Print window.

    NOTE: Do NOT use the "Poster" button — it does not use the correct configuration!

  4. From the printer drop-down menu, select Posters on papercut.

  5. Click the Properties button next to the Printer drop-down.

  6. Click the Paper/Quality tab.

  7. Click on the Custom... button in the Paper Options box.

    • The Custom Paper Size window will open.  For Symposium posters, use the following:

      • Width = 41.00

        • NOTE: The widest you can make it is 41.5 inches; the length can be as long as necessary.

      • Length = 64.50

      • Name — Change the name to whatever you want (we chose Symposium in the example below). 

    • Click Save, then OK

    • The Print window should re-open.

    • Select Fit for the Size Options if the preview shows a small image.

    • Select Auto portrait/landscape for the Orientation.

  8. Click the Print button to submit your poster job.

  9. Go to the poster printer area and release the poster at the release station, using your Middlebury College credentials.
