Email is an electronic messaging service. Middlebury's email service, provided by Microsoft, also included calendaring.

All faculty, staff and students receive a standardized Middlebury email account.

Archive is a term used in several ways for Microsoft Exchange email. In the simplest form, there may be an Archive folder within a mailbox. The Auto-Archive function built into the Mailbox Cleanup tools stores emails in a separate file. Email administrators may also enable a Mailbox Archive function that automatically moves email from your mailbox to another location stored within the email system. This article is primarily focused on that last meaning.
