ITS recognizes that different users have different needs and preferences in computer platforms and therefore offers both macOS and Microsoft Windows (Dell) computer options to faculty and staff.
Details about the differences between using Dells vs. Mac computers here at Middlebury College can be found in this Knowledge Base article.
Our standard model computers will meet the needs of most Middlebury employees. If you have unique computing needs or any questions, please contact the helpdesk to discuss which configuration is best suited for your work.
ITS provides a single 22" display for each employee as well as a docking station with Dell deployments or an Anker USB C adapter with Apple deployments.

Software (Applications) You Can Expect to Find
Computers purchased and maintained by ITS are set up with the standard college software bundle which includes basic tools unique to each OS as well as utilities which help ITS manage and secure Middlebury devices. Employees are able to install additional software themselves if needed. Many of the popular licensed software used at the college (such as Adobe applications or Microsoft Offce) are now available for self-install via Self Service Installations. Applications are also listed in our Service Catalog. More info is at: http://go.middlebury.edu/selfservice/
