Your Middlebury Account

In the format of username@middlebury.edu, your Middlebury account provides access to authorized services and resources, such as email, the wireless network, cloud storage on Google and OneDrive, printing, Oracle, Zoom video conferencing, LinkedIn Learning training, Banner, and more.  You should protect your account with a strong password and keep it safe, so it is known only to you.

You will sign into most services offered by Middlebury using Single Sign-On (SSO). I.e., instead of creating a separate account specific to the application/service, the application will use your Middlebury account to log in. Functionally, this often requires not putting your Middlebury credentials directly into the application's username and password fields but instead clicking SSO, and will look like the same log-in screen that you use for your email.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required for all Middlebury accounts to protect them and our network from potential compromise.  Learn more at go/mfa/, and see our initial setup guide at go/mfaguide/.

See our Account Lifecycle Policy and our article on Life After Middlebury for details about access after you leave campus. See our Accounts and Passwords webpage for further details about your account.

Connect to Wireless (go/wifi/)

You can connect to our secure wireless (WiFi) network, MiddleburyCollege, using your Middlebury account (username@middlebury.edu) and password.  Connection to the campus network allows access to the internet, printing, and cloud storage.

Email (go/mail/)

All students, faculty, and staff have a cloud-hosted Exchange e-mail account.  Email is Middlebury’s standard messaging method, so it is your responsibility to monitor your account for communications.  See Email Configuration (go/emailconfig/) for information about setting up specific email clients. Important: We do not support Gmail.

  • Your email address is in the format username@middlebury.edu.

  • If you need to change or reset your password, refer to go/passwordhelp/.

  • To change your Middlebury MFA settings, visit go/mfasetup/.

Zoom (go/zoom/)

All Middlebury students and employees have access to Zoom for their video-conferencing needs. Visit go/zoomhelp/ to learn how to get started.

Public Computers and Printing (go/print/)

A list of the publicly available computers at the Middlebury campus can be found on the Equipment page

Both Middlebury and Monterey use print queues named MiddBW (prints black & white, double-sided by default) and MiddColor (prints color, single-sided by default). You can adjust the default settings both from the print screen and on the printer itself.  Install these queues for the most flexible printing options. You must be connected to the MiddleburyCollege network to use our printers.

Tip: Unless color is necessary, be sure to print in black and white to conserve resources.

Middlebury Campus

Visit go.middlebury.edu/print for information about printing on the Middlebury campus and how to manage your printing account.  Check out our Printing on Middlebury Campus (go/howtoprint/) article for specifics about how to send a print job from your computer.

Important:  Poster print requests cannot be submitted from your own computer; please see our Posters at Middlebury (go/poster/) article to learn more.

Monterey Campus

For information and resources about printing at Monterey, see go.middlebury.edu/printingatMIIS.

Course Content & Resources (go/hub/)

The Course Hub (go/hub/) is Middlebury's gateway to course content for students and faculty.  The Semester Dashboard shows you the resources for all your registered courses – at a glance you can see Canvas sites, course information, and other connected resources.

Canvas (go/canvas/) is Middlebury's primary learning management system, where most professors post course materials, assignments, quizzes, and more. For help with Canvas, see our article Canvas: Learning About and Getting Help (go/canvashelp/).

Use GO to Navigate Websites (go/usego/)

GO is a utility that provides a fast way to navigate to many common services and websites, both on the Middlebury website and externally.  To use it, enter a GO shortcut, such as go.middlebury.edu/mail, into your browser’s Address field (NOT the search bar in Google, etc.). This will bring you directly to the page of the go link.  There are hundreds of registered GO shortcuts; visit the Gotionary (go/go/) to explore or create your own. See go.middlebury.edu/usego/ to view more details about how GO links work.

A collection of GO shortcuts for frequently used resources can be found at go/middgo/.

Note the extra / at the end of the shortened go links — this is necessary for the shortened links to work.

The shortened links ( go/_/ ) only work on the MiddleburyCollege network, while the longer links ( go.middlebury.edu/_ ) will work on any network. For MIIS go links, substitute middlebury.edu for miis.edu

Free Software & Learning

Select software titles are available to students, faculty, and staff free of charge, including Microsoft Office 365 and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.  See go/software4me/ to learn more about what we offer and how to obtain it.

In addition, all active academic year faculty, staff, and students, both here and at Monterey, have full access to all on-demand courses and exercise files offered through our LinkedIn Learning (go/LILinfo/) resource. We also offer instructor-led workshops, the schedule for which can be found at go/techworkshops/. For complete details about learning opportunities at Middlebury, visit go/learn/

File Storage

All faculty, staff, and students can store files in Middlebury’s OneDrive and/or Google Drive cloud accounts using their Middlebury email address and password.  Visit go/cloudoverview/ to learn about these storage options.

We strongly recommend use of Middlebury’s cloud storage because:

  • They provide robust, password-protected storage for your important documents.

  • Automatic synchronization of specified folders to and from the cloud protects your work.  Files are backed up effortlessly so they can be retrieved in case of a virus or hardware failure. File revision history allows you to revert to a previous version, if needed.

  • Cloud storage is accessible from any networked computer, anywhere.

Also available is Middlebury's on-premise storage for both the Middlebury and Monterey campuses, called Middfiles and Miisfiles, respectively. Visit go/middfiles/ for complete details.
